4 countries, 12 days, 1 bike. A mountain biking point to point that you will never forget.
Updated: Jun 3, 2024
From Oberstdorf, Germany to Garda Lake, Italy. This is a mountain bike trip that roughly follows the historical Heckmair Route from Southern Germany in the Bavarian Alps and routes you through Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, to arrive at the famous Garda Lake and it’s beautiful northern town of Riva del Garda.
You and your group of friends will be guided throughout the route, over some high mountain passes and through historical towns such as Bormio, enjoying some of the best single track in the Alps as well as some dirt track climbs, tarmac valley cruising, and a few lift assists to keep the legs fresh.
This mountain bike adventure will certainly be challenging, but with all the amenities that can be expected in the Alps along the way. Beautiful hotels, incredible food, local beer and wine; the on-bike experience will be just as memorable as the off the bike experience.
Join Torno Group for an unforgettable trip through the Alps in 2024!

Point to point mountain biking through the Alps
Trans Alp Mountain Biking. Summer 2024
Late Summer 2024
Day 1: Depart from USA
Day 2: Arrive in Munich, Germany. Torno Group will pick you up and transfer you via private shuttle to your hotel in Oberstdorf, Germany. We will build the bikes and get out for a little spin before dinner at our amazing hotel, Kuhberg Hof.
Day 3: Our first full day of the trip, we will adjust to the time and get our legs going with a bike ride near town and have lunch at a local hut. We will have an evening prep session to make sure everyone has all the right gear to start our trans alp adventure the following morning. Dinner will once again be at the hotel where master Chef Christian and the hotel owner (and Sommelier) Verena are sure to stun you with the local dishes.
Day 4: We will leave the hotel on our bikes and set off for Austria. Stopping for lunch in Lech, we will then continue on to our mountain hotel where we will kick back with some local beers and enjoy the start of the first day. Approx. 55km today with 1,000m of ascent
Day 5: We will depart from our hotel en-route to St Anton today, where we are treated with a beautiful descent from the start. Rolling through St Anton, we will start a long and gradual climb before crossing into the beautiful town of Galtur for the evening.
Day 6: Starting the day off with a cruising descent and then a lift assist towards the top of the infamous Ischgl ski resort, we will make our way across some amazing single track and eventually make it to Scuol, Switzerland. This valley is known for it’s beauty and it’s local language of Romansh. Great food and views await us here.
Day 7: Leaving Scuol en-route to Bormio, we will climb over 2 big passes today that offer equally rewarding views. The lakes above Bormio are particularly gorgeous and offer some rolling trails before descending into Bormio. This will now be our 4th country of the trip!
Day 8: We will have an off day or extra day in Bormio to either relax, ride the lift assisted trails, or whatever else you may want to do! Our hotel in Bormio is extremely comfy and very bike friendly, it will also be a nice change from the point to point biking that we’ve been doing the last few days. We have a great local restaurant in town where they specialize in a local dish called pizzoccheri.
Day 9: We will depart from Bormio and use the lifts to access the highest point possible. From there, we will descend over 2000 meters down towards the valley and then continue on through some smaller Italian towns on our way to the hotel for the evening. The riding today will be unforgettable!
Day 10: A bit less of a mountain bike today and more valley cruising than usual, we will cover some ground but with less elevation and dirt that we have been typically. We will arrive to Storo, Itlay where we will spend the night in anticipation of biking to Garda Lake the following day!
Day 11: We will use a shuttle option to get to the top of Riva Ridge today, this will keep us fresh and ready for the long descent into Riva del Garda and our final destination! This descent is legendary, riding over Tremalzo and down to the lake is the perfect way to wrap up this trans-alp adventure and is so rewarding! We will kick back at our hotel in Riva on arrival and have a big celebratory dinner to cheers the success of the trip!
Day 12: This morning is meant to provide some rest and relaxation at the lake or some walking and shopping in town if you want. After relaxing for the day, we will pack up our bags and depart for the Venice airport hotel in the evening for our final dinner together. Options to go into Venice will certainly be available to those that would like to. Your guides will pack up your bikes and help out with any other help that you may need.
Day 13: The airport hotel shuttle will bring you to the airport and after an amazing journey through 4 countries on your bike, you’ll be heading home with stronger legs, and a ton of memories!
